Thank you to our nursery parents who have attended this week’s communication event alongside our visit from Book Start which helps children develop a love of books and stories from an early age. Sharing books together supports your child’s language development, listening skills and imagination, all of which are essential for learning as they grow. We know how sharing a book together, even for a few minutes each day can make a big difference. Children across school are encouraged to share a book at least 4 times a week.
As you know, we love reading at Flowery and prioritise this in all areas of school. We are incredibly grateful for the donations of books we receive throughout the year. This year we are celebrating the National Year of Reading through the theme “Go All In”. Through this project children are encouraged to connect reading with their own interests – whether that’s sport, music, baking or animals – helping to make reading a natural and enjoyable part of everyday life. We’d love you to go all in with us by sharing books at home and helping your child discover what they love to read.
Finally, we would like to thank Lila’s family and their friends for the work they have done to lay the foundations for our memorial garden. Our Y6 pupils have created some great designs, reflecting Lila’s unique personality. Mr Bown, Mrs Vo Mullin and our Y6 team are currently working with local businesses to design and resource this area, creating a special place for all!
