What a lovely start to the new term!
Firstly, we would like to welcome those families joining us for the first time and offer you a warm welcome to Flowery! We are pleased to see that many of our nursery pupils will be continuing their learning journey at Flowery and welcome those joining us from other settings. Letters have now been sent out for September start and details of our welcome events can be found below.
As we start the new term, we would once again like to thank you for your support with our home learning projects and QR quizzes. The children have loved sharing these in their classes and will be sharing them in assembly next week. Special mention to our Y1 learners who have demonstrated great understanding of the seven continents. It was lovely to see so many of our Y1 parents at our celebration event. There will be further opportunities for other year groups over the coming weeks.
On Thursday our Y5 and 6 boys football team played in the Tameside Heywood Cup semi final against Aldwyn Primary. They narrowly lost 2-3, with goals from Harry D and Loki. The boys showed great resilience against strong and physical opponents and should be proud of the success they have had this year.
As you may have seen, work is now underway for the new children’s residential home which is being built on the site of the old infant school. We have also been made aware of building work taking place at Flowery Field station over the next few weeks to help improve access. Please can you reinforce key messages about safety around these sites.
Following the success of our after school clubs in the autumn and spring terms we are pleased to announce that our summer term clubs will be launched after school on Monday. Places can be booked through the MCAS app. We have extended our offer to include gardening, mini makers, singing and much more!
Finally, we would like to remind members of our community that there is a special commemorative event, celebrating the life of Mr Cooke, tomorrow at Hyde town Hall. The event takes place between 1 and 3pm at Hyde Town Hall. Mr Cooke has been instrumental in improving lives and shaping our local community. His memory will continue to live on in those who knew and loved him.
Wishing you all a lovely weekend
Mrs Silk
