What a lovely start to the New Year! It has been lovely to have the children back in school, they have all settled well and appear to be looking forward to the year ahead.
I would like to thank families that embraced our learning challenges over the Christmas break. The children will be sharing their creations within our assemblies next week, helping them to retrieve their key learning from before the holidays. All families should have access to our retrieval quizzes (QR codes), we would ask families to revisit these regularly as this learning will be built upon throughout the school year.
Despite the awful weather, our children continue to achieve great things. This week we have had the pleasure of taking our Year 6 children to Robinwood. The children behaved impeccably and were a credit to the school and their families. I am extremely proud of the way the children challenged themselves, pushing themselves out of their comfort zone to tackle new things. Over the next few weeks, we will share these experiences with our younger pupils during our assemblies, thinking about how we can support each other to overcome our fears.
We continue to work hard to ensure all families receive regular updates through the My Child at School App (MCAS), these are also posted on our Website, Instagram and Facebook page. The purpose of the Facebook page is to offer support to families, provide reminders about upcoming events and answer any queries. If you have a concern of an urgent nature please phone school or email admin@floweryfield.tameside.sch.uk.
We are currently putting together our after-school club offer, booking will open on Monday the 12th January at 3 15pm, with clubs commencing from Monday 19th January. We are currently exploring affordable opportunities within the local area, if you are aware of a club that may be willing to offer taster or low cost classes please get in touch. Our new Flowery Fun club continues to provide wrap around care for those families that require support outside of our normal school day. A limited number of places remain before and after school. Please get in touch with the office if you would like to reserve a place.
Unfortunately, prior to the school break, there was a crash that occurred on the school grounds. Please can we remind families that this access is reserved for disabled drivers and students. Likewise, can we remind families driving to school to avoid using the Surestart entrance, parking on Zig Zaga or double lines, especially during the upcoming cold spell as this restricts emergency access to site. We look forward to working together to ensure all children can access school safely.
Finally, please can we ask families to continue accessing the school site via the Y2/3 playground. Unfortunately, the builders have been hit with some delays but have assured me they will be completing the work as soon as possible. Alongside the restricted access to our reception classes, there is also currently restricted access to Y1. Classroom doors will be open from 8 30 to ease congestion on site.
Wishing you a lovely weekend
Mrs Silk

Parent Mental Health Day – 30th January 2026
Parent Mental Health Day (PMHD) takes place each year on 30th January. Created by Stem4, the day raises awareness of the vital link between parents’ and carers’ mental health and the wellbeing of the whole family. While PMHD is an important date in the calendar, the challenges parents and carers face are year-round. Supporting mental health is key to safeguarding children and promoting family resilience.
