What a beautiful week in school!

This week our science learning has continued with children making the most of the sunny weather. They have continued to explore a range of plants and animals within our school environment, carrying out experiments and observing changes over time.  Please take time to explore the living things around our school environment.  It would also be a good chance for you to visit our school farm and meet our new chicken ‘Cracker’ and new guinea pigs ‘Popcorn and Pinecone”. Please feel free to bring any of your uncooked vegetables to feed to our animals! As the warm weather continues, please can we ask all families to ensure their child has a named water bottle, sun hat and sunscreen in school.  We have created a number of shady spots around school where children can relax with their friends too!

During this week’s assemblies, we have explored the book “Everyone’s Welcome!”.  This aligns well with our school values of Striving, Teamwork, Ambition and Resilience. As part of our continued focus on our core values, we would like to help our students find out more about the world around them.  We are looking for parents who would be willing to come in and speak to our children about the important jobs you do in and around our community.  Please feel free to come and speak with myself or Mr Smith if this is something you feel you can help with.

Over the last few days, we have started to decorate school in preparation for our VE day celebrations.  We have lots of events planned, including war time games, brass band, military vehicles, brass band, a street party and much more!  We are encouraging children to go back in time, by dressing up in 1940s clothes, alternatively children can wear something red, white or blue!  Our kitchen have been busy planning our street party menu, with both vegetarian and halal options available in the app. Please note the last date for orders is Monday 5th May, Alternatively, children can bring their own packed lunch to join their friends at the street party! BBC NorthWest Tonight will be on site capturing our celebrations.  Please let the office know if you do not want your child to participate.  You are able to change your permissions in MCAS or contact the office.  We will ensure parents who have requested that their child’s image is not used on social media will not be filmed.

Next week our summer term after-school clubs begin, alongside our traditional sports and dance clubs we have a range of opportunities to allow the children to share their talents, including song writing, board games, mindfulness and even Karaoke!  Places can be booked through the MCAS app. Alongside our after-school provision, we will continue to offer breakfast provision for all children.  All children are able to attend from 8 30 where they will be offered a complimentary breakfast.

Due to the number of families requiring wrap around provision, we are looking at extending our provision further in September.  Please speak to the office if you require places with either before or after school for the new school year.  We are offering families, a complimentary trial session during the summer term.  Please book this through the office. We are also pleased to announce that we are trialling holiday provision and will be opening on Wednesday 4th June 9-3 at a cost of £15.  Wrap around provision may be available depending on demand.

Finally, we would like to say a huge thank you to Ms Murray who leaves us today.  We are extremely grateful for her support during Mrs Chalmer’s maternity leave and know our nursery children have made a great start to their journey at Flowery under her care.  I know our little people and their families would want to join meWe wish Ms Murray well and hope she will be back to visit soon.

Wishing you all a relaxing and enjoyable bank holiday weekend
