What a lovely end to the term!
We started off the week with our Eid celebration, the children had lot of fun celebrating with their friends and enjoyed many tasty treats. On behalf of our community, I would like to thank families for their generosity at this time, with many children sampling new foods for the first time.
Throughout the week, our children have participated in our termly arts week. The children have created some great pieces which link to their recent Geography work. Please check out their designs on our social media pages or talk to your child about their creations, As part of this work, we have linked with a local artist who will be creating a mural for Flowery Field Train station. He has invited our children to get involved by sharing their designs. They would like the children to sketch ideas for the following: What is special about Flowery Field? What do you do in the local area? What is your favourite thing to do at school? School will be open between 7 and 3 for the first week of the holidays to drop off any designs. Unfortunately, the designs need to be completed by Friday 11th April so these will need to be completed over the next few days.
On Wednesday, our Flowery Friends team held our annual Easter Egg Bingo, which was well attended, lots of fun was had by all and everyone left with a chocolate treat to enjoy. Our next event is our Eid Celebration which takes place on Wednesday 23rd April. Following the success of last year’s event, we have expanded capacity to ensure more families can get involved. Our team has lots of things planned, including new inflatables, craft events, party games and of course lots of delicious food! A limited number of tickets remain for this event: https://flowery-field-ptfa.pembee.app. I would like to take this opportunity to thank our team of volunteers who continue to plan and support these events. If you can contribute, even a small amount of time, please come to our next planning meeting which takes place on Wednesday 7th May 2025.
On Thursday, our Y4 pupils visited Manchester Museum. This was a great opportunity for children to recall their previous learning. All children completed the ‘Time Odyssey’ and enjoyed exploring the museum’s collections! Special mention to our parent volunteers who made this trip possible, we are extremely grateful for your support.
Following the holiday we will be celebrating VE day as 2025 marks 80 years since the end of the Second World War. We will be celebrating this on VE day, Thursday 8th May and have lots of events planned, including war time games, brass band, military vehicles, a street party and much more! We are inviting children to dress up for this occasion and have sent home a list of suggested costumes for you to check out over the break. Special mention to our parent volunteers, Mr Barton, Mr Bown and Mr Sallabank who have planned these events.
Finally, I would like to send my best wishes to those families celebrating Easter during the holidays. We wish you all a lovely time celebrating with your family and friends and look forward to hearing of your celebrations on our return.
Mrs Silk
