Thank you for all your support with our world book day events, we were once again overwhelmed by the enthusiasm shown by our community. Throughout the day, children participated in a range of activities, including a special themed lunch, book sharing and much more! With the money raised from the event and the commission from our after-school book sale, we have over £700 to spend on new books. Children within EYFS and Key Stage 2 have chosen a range of books to update our classroom libraries. We can’t wait to get our new books delivered!
During the week, all Y3 classes have had the chance to visit Hyde library, with many signing up to become library members. The children loved exploring all the different things the library has to offer and are keen to return during the Easter holidays. We would encourage all families to check out the range of events that Tameside libraries have to offer: Children's Library Services - Tameside MBC
Following on from the success of our trips earlier in the year, some of our Y3 children have visited Manchester Museum and completed the Time Odyssey challenge, enabling them to revisit their previous learning from both history and geography. Pupils also had the opportunity to examine some fossils as part of their current topic. Y6 have also been out and about, visiting the Bridgewater Hall to experience the delights of the Halle Orchestra. Y6 pupils loved joining the orchestra for a rendition of ‘Bare Necessities’. We have further trips planned for other year groups later in the year.
We know this is a very busy time for our faith communities as our Christian families prepare for Easter and our Muslim families celebrate the month of Ramadan. We know that many families will be marking this time of year through prayer, fasting, reflection, charity & community. Please can we remind families to make school aware if their child is fasting. Alongside our ‘acts of kindness’ challenge, children have been invited to decorate a crescent moon to display in our school hall. The children have until the end of March to complete their crescent moon design for the chance to win a small prize.
Our Flowery Friends team have lots of things planned over the coming weeks, including Mother’s Day Crafts, Easter Egg Bingo and our Family Eid Event. There are still a few remaining tickets for our Mothers’ Day Crafts and Easter Egg Bingo, whilst our Eid Tickets go on sale on 17th March at 7pm. We are extremely grateful to those that work behind the scenes to make these events possible but are in need of extra volunteers to support the events themselves.
Thank you for your continued support

Punctuality and Absence
School starts at 8 45 and closes at 3 15. Please can we ask families to ensure children arrive on time as lateness disrupts learning and results in children missing valuable learning opportunities.
Likewise, if your child is going to be absent from school, please ring and provide a reason for their absence prior to the start of the school day. Parents are able to leave a message on our automated system.
Older Children
Following a few incidents over the last couple of weeks, please can we ask families with older children to remind them that they are unable to cut through our school playground. We understand that some older pupils need to collect siblings. Please could you remind them of our expectations to enable our school grounds to be safe for everyone.
Help Needed
We are looking for the following to help us expand our OPAL offer within school:
- Outdoor toys – hula hoops, bats, balls etc
- Balance Bikes
- Sand Toys – Buckets, spades and watering cans
- Scooters
- Large Bricks – Duplo etc
- Lego
- Construction materials – scaffolding boards, pallets etc
