Welcome back!
Firstly, I would like to say a huge thank you to the families that completed their kindness challenges over the half term. We are incredibly proud of you all! Within our assemblies, we have shared the story of the invisible bucket, the children recognise the importance of looking after each other, their families and their communities by helping to fill each other’s buckets.
This weekend marks the start of Ramadan for our Muslim families. This is a month of fasting, prayer, reflection, charity, & community. During this month, some of our older pupils choose to fast, school have allocated a special place where children can rest over the lunchtime period. Please can we ask families to inform school if their child will be fasting. We will be finding out more in our assemblies next week and will be thinking of you all over the next 30 days. We are looking forward to marking Ramadan by continuing to promote ‘acts of kindness’ within school and our local community.
Next week, we will be celebrating World Book Day. On Friday, children are invited to wear their favourite PJs, bring a cuddly friend and their favourite book to share with their friends. Alternatively, children can wear a costume or even their own clothes. The day is all about celebrating their love of reading. We are asking for a £1 donation to help us add to our classroom libraries. Any help would be greatly appreciated! As part of our celebrations Y3 pupils will also be visiting Hyde library on the following dates: Tuesday 4th March 3JB, Thursday 6th March 3DY and 3JP. We would love it if parents could support our visit too! Please get in touch with the office if you are able to help.
Our Flowery Friends team have lots of things planned over the coming weeks, including Mother’s Day Crafts, Easter Egg Bingo and our Family Eid Event. There are still a few tickets remaining for Mothers’ Day Crafts which take place the week beginning the 10th March. Our Easter Egg Bingo tickets will be on sale from 3rd March and our Eid Tickets go on sale on 17th March at 7pm. We are extremely grateful to those that work behind the scenes to make these events possible but are in need of extra volunteers to support the events themselves. Please speak to a member of the pastoral team or the office if you are able to support. These events were a sell out last year so we would recommend purchasing tickets early.
Finally, can we remind all families to check the announcements in the app, as often important messages are sent out. It is vital that you update your contact details in the app too.
Thank you for your continued support
Mrs Silk
Punctuality and Absence
School starts at 8 45 and closes at 3 15. Please can we ask families to ensure children arrive on time as lateness disrupts learning and results in children missing valuable learning opportunities.
Likewise, if your child is going to be absent from school, please ring and provide a reason for their absence prior to the start of the school day. Parents are able to leave a message on our automated system.
Older Children
Following a few incidents over the last couple of weeks, please can we ask families with older children to remind them that they are unable to cut through our school playground. We understand that some older pupils need to collect siblings. Please could you remind them of our expectations to enable our school grounds to be safe for everyone.
Help Needed
We are looking for the following to help us expand our OPAL offer within school:
- Outdoor toys – hula hoops, bats, balls etc
- Sand Toys – Buckets, spades and watering cans
- Scooters
- Large Bricks – Duplo etc
- Lego
- Construction materials – scaffolding boards, pallets etc
