FROGGY STARS - STRIVE -TEAM - AMBITION - RESILIENCE = SUCCESS
Summer Term
Let me share a huge “THANK YOU” for all your support this academic year. We are so proud of our little people who continue to strive within their learning, embrace challenge and work collaboratively to achieve great things. We achieve what we do thanks to our partnership with our families and the wider community.
Our Y6 leavers assembly has provided us with the chance to reflect on their success. It was lovely to see them together, taking pride in their achievements and celebrating those of their peers. They are a credit to their families and are testament to all my colleagues have done over the years. We know that they have the skills necessary to support them on their learning journey and wish them every success as they prepare for High School.
Today as we say goodbye to Mrs Stanway, Mrs Madigan, Ms Foulger and Mr Chat, we would like to thank them for all their contributions to Flowery Field. It has been a pleasure to work alongside such dedicated colleagues and I wish them all the best for the future. We know what a difference these colleagues have made not only to our children but also the families they have taught and supported during their time with us. In the words of the Olde English proverb: From little acorns grow Mighty Oaks!
We are pleased to announce that from September we will be running our own before and after school provision (between the hours of 7 30 and 5 30) which will operate from Tuesday 3rd September. This provision will support the work of Rainbows in providing much needed support to our community. If you are in need of support, please pick up a form from reception. Places will be allocated on our first come first served basis. Our normal clubs will be running from the 3rd week of September, unfortunately we are unable to run our morning drop in however we will still be providing breakfast from 8 30 for those families requiring support.
Finally, I would like to wish you all a lovely summer break with your friends and family and look forward to continuing to build on our success on our return. Have a great summer and come back in September ready to meet your new challenges.

Communication
Over the summer break our school office will be closed. Please could we ask that any school related queries are sent to the admin@floweryfield.tameside.sch.uk. This summer our Flowery Friends team will also be taking a much needed break so our Facebook page will be paused between the 5th and 26th August. I would like to thank the team of volunteers who oversee the page ensuring our families get much needed support.
Farm
As you are aware our animals have also left us for their Summer break. We are extremely grateful for your support and to our friends at Garden House Marple, who have once again offered to house our animals. It would be lovely for the children to visit them over the summer break and support the work of Kevin and the team.
Summer Holidays
School holidays can be a great opportunity to spend time with your child outside. Being outside can lead to lots of chances for learning new language and exploring the world around us. Even if it’s raining, get wrapped up and go outside to jump in the puddles and get muddy!.
Activities to try at home:
- Drawing with chalks on the wall or pathways at home, then ask the children to talk about their pictures.
- Leave clues for a treasure hunt inside or outside the house for your child to follow.
- Encourage your child to hunt for bugs in the park or your flowerbeds, take a photo and then try and identify it when you get home using the internet.
- Meet up with friends at the park to play games or sports together. This will help your child’s social interaction skills.
- Encourage your child to help you make the things you need for a picnic. Take it to the park or if it’s really raining have it on the floor in the house. Talk about the different foods and tastes. They could also bring their teddies or action figures.
- Being outside gives you more space to build things with cardboard boxes and tubes. Make a train, rocket or castle.
- If you are going on a trip or holiday, encourage your child to take photos or draw pictures along the way. When you get home support them to tell you what you did, sequencing the events in the correct order.
Uniform
As we prepare for September please can we remind all parents of our uniform policy. This can be found on our website: https://floweryfieldschool.org.uk/parents/school-uniform. Our PE and dance kits consists of a royal blue T-shirt and black or blue shorts. For indoor sessions pumps or bare feet, whilst for outdoor games sessions, trainers are appropriate please. We are happy for children to purchase a school fleece or Flowery Field hoody to wear over their PE kit. If you intend to have your child’s ears pierced, please can we encourage this to be carried out as soon as possible as children are unable to participate with jewellery.
