Summer Term – Week 3 13.05.22

What a lovely end to another busy week in school!

This week the children have continued to embrace their current science topics, exploring living things in and around school. Our EYFS pupils have loved planting seeds, carrying out their own experiments and observing new growth.  We are looking forward to seeing the children apply this learning both within school and our local environment.  Please encourage the children to discuss the different plants they see on their journey to school. Some of our Y3 pupils have been busy planting up the vegetable beds by our school farm, we now have potatoes, onions and broad beans.  We have also welcomed some new arrivals, as part of their living things focus. We now have 8 chicks, we are looking forward to watching grow over the next few weeks and look forward to them joining our school farm soon.

We are extremely proud of all our children who are preparing for their end of year assessments, especially our Y6 children who have all completed their SATs this week. Other year groups, will be completing them over the next few weeks. Despite the disruptions of the last couple of years, the children continue to embrace the challenge. Their determination to succeed and resilience has been evident throughout the week. Special mention to our staff team, who have supported the children along the way. Well done to you all!

This week, we have received a special delivery from the Queen, a bare rooted fruit tree to commemorate the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee. We plan on planting this, alongside a time capsule as part of our celebrations.  On Friday 27th May, we will be holding our own street party themed celebration.  The children will have a buffet lunch on this day, followed by ice cream and jelly.  If children would like to have a lunch on this special day, this needs to be booked by Friday 20th May.  Children are welcome to bring their own lunch if they would prefer. We will be encouraging all the children to wear red, white and blue. The teachers are planning a range of activities to ensure this is a memorable day for all!

Wishing all our families a relaxing and enjoyable weekend.

Froggy Stars – Family News 05/05/22

Over the next few weeks we will continue to explore our own thoughts and feelings as part of our topic: Valuing difference

As part of this work, we will be looking at things that make us the same or different from each other, we will be showing kindness to each other and celebrating our differences.

Each week we will share some fun ideas for things you can do at home.  Children are welcome to share these in school or post on our Facebook page.

Activity 3 - My Community

At Flowery Field we are all part of the same school community, but many of us belong to different communities.

Think about the things you do in your spare time.  Which communities do you belong to?  It might be a special group you belong to, something you like to do with your friends or a special place you go to.

Draw a picture or bring in something to share to help us learn about the different communities you belong to.
