FROGGY STARS - STRIVE -TEAM - AMBITION - RESILIENCE = SUCCESS
Spring Term Week 5 – 04.2.22
This week I would like to start by thanking all our Flowery community. We really appreciate your patience and support during our recent outbreaks.
This week, Mrs Sykes, Mr McClements and Ms Dowse have led a science enquiry within school. They were impressed with the children’s enthusiasm for the subject, all children were able to communicate their learning and enjoyed taking part in practical science. Within all year groups, children had the opportunity to plan and conduct their own experiments. Children were able to review their findings, describing the importance of fair testing and look at ways to improve their experiments. It was great to see our younger children taking on the role of a scientist, many using scientific equipment for the very first time. Check out the pictures on our Facebook page.
Within the news this week, we have seen the focus on rising energy costs, we are keen to support families at this time and will continue to look at ways we can support you. Attached to this week’s briefing you will find some ideas for free family activities to support Children’s Mental Health Week. Next week we will be signposting you to free activities for over the holiday period. We would also like to remind families that all children within Reception, Y1 and Y2 are entitled to a free school meal, please take a look at the new menu on the school website. This will be introduced following half term. We would also encourage families in receipt of benefits to check if they are entitled to Free School Meals. We are once again able to offer vouchers to cover the school holiday period to eligible families. If there are any families in receipt of FSM who require holiday provision please speak to a member of the drop off team.
Finally, a special mention to our amazing Flowery Friends Team who continue to give up their time to plan and deliver events within our community. It was lovely to meet with them on Monday and plan events for the spring and summer term. These events really help to strengthen our links between school and the local community. We will be holding an open event on the 7th March to enable you to meet the team ahead of our annual general meeting. We will have refreshments from 6 30 with the AGM taking place at 7pm. You will be able to find out more about the work of this team and help us elect our chair, treasurer and secretary.
Wishing you a enjoyable and relaxing weekend
Mrs Silk
