What a great week in school!

Children across school have enjoyed participating in our Smart School council Sessions as part of our focus on oracy. These sessions continue to build children’s confidence, communication skills and teamwork giving them regular chances to lead discussions and share their ideas. This week our focus has been ‘Does how we behave matter as much as how we play?' This has provoked some interesting conversations amongst our older pupils, whist our younger pupils have explored different emotions and looked at different ways of dealing with our big feelings. Well done to all!

This week our Y3 pupils have had the opportunity to visit the World Museum in Liverpool, children have taken a’ journey through time’ to discover more about ancient civilisations.  The gallery houses over 1000 objects, including jewellery, royal clothing and papyrus scrolls.  They also had the opportunity to find out more about mummification and have enjoyed applying this to their learning back in school where they have mummified an orange!

As we continue to refine our start‑of‑day routines to ensure pupils begin their morning calmly, safely and ready to learn, please be aware of the following updates.

  • Upstairs classes: children should line up on the playground as previously. Their class teacher will come to collect them. Children arriving at school from the drop-off zone will enter via their designated playground.
  • Downstairs classes: classroom doors will open at 8:45am for the start of the school day. Children arriving at school from the drop-off zone will be enter through the  hall.
  • From 8:30am to 8:40am each morning, toast will be available in the hall. If your child would like toast, please ensure they enter through the main hall doors.
  • Children in downstairs classrooms

After half‑term (from Monday 23rd February), all pupils using the breakfast provision must be booked on via MCAS. This service remains free of charge, but booking will help us ensure appropriate staffing and food preparation each day.

As you may be aware from the media, schools are now expected to be phone free zones. We feel this is an extremely positive move due to ongoing issues some of our children are experiencing with social media.  Please check out the link to our online safety newsletter that provides you with important information to support your child online. Whilst we understand there are a small number of pupils who need their phone to support their travel to and from school, please can we ask other families to ensure their children are not bringing phones into school. In line with the new guidance, please can we ask families to ensure their children are signing these in and out of the office.

Finally, we would like to congratulate our boys football team.  After trialling 0-2 at half-time, they showed brilliant resilience in the second half to pull it back to 2-2 to take the tie to a penalty shootout, which they won 3-2.  Well done to the whole team, and to opponents Denton West End, for a great game of football!

Wishing you a lovely and relaxing weekend

Kind regards

Mrs Silk

School Meals

Enquire Learning Trust have asked us to remind all families to ensure all school meals are booked through the My Child at School App.  Unfortunately, we are seeing an increase in food waste and lack of availability of food.  It is essential that all families secure their child’s meal through the app.  Please contact the office if you need support with this.
