Things to Celebrate!
What a lovely week in school!
On Tuesday, I had the pleasure of welcoming visitors from across Enquire Learning Trust. Our visitors were struck by our children’s enthusiasm for learning across school and their impeccable learning behaviours displayed in every classroom. We are extremely proud of the way our children were able to share their learning and answer our key learning questions. It is clear that children are sharing their learning at home too through our online quizzes – it has made a huge difference to the children’s confidence. Well done to all!
On Thursday, our reception children marked the end of their ‘People who help Us’ topic with a themed day to celebrate those in our community who help us. The children made thank you cards for our real-life heroes and loved role playing and dressing up to explore the roles they may do when they are older. Special mention to all those families that supported this event.
This week marks the end of our autumn after-school clubs. We have had great uptake this term with many children trying out something for the first time. I am extremely grateful to the staff who have given up their time to provide these opportunities and know how much children have loved them. Special mention to our Steel Band who have impressed me with their performance and are looking forward to performing for the rest of school. Although clubs have now finished for the autumn term, we will continue to offer breakfast within our cases. Our spring clubs will be finalised following the holidays.
This weekend marks the start of advent for our Christian families, this is a special time of year, when families reflect and pray together. During advent we are encouraging children to think about what they can do to support others in need at this time. For example, make a card or send a gift to someone living alone. We look forward to celebrating these gifts of kindness during our Christmas celebrations. Throught advent we will be collecting donations for Sandwich Angels.
As we prepare for the end of term, we would like to say a huge thank you to Miss Needham who will be leaving us at the end of term. Miss Needham joined our team last year and has impacted the lives of many of our little people, especially those in KS1. I’m sure you will all join me in wishing her well in her future career. We would also like to take this opportunity to welcome Lillie Atkinson to our Flowery family. Mr Atkinson will be back in January. Ms Oates and Mrs Slinn will be supporting 1JA until his return.
Finally, we would like to remind you that all children are invited to our annual Christmas dinner. Children are invited to wear their Christmas jumpers or party clothes and get into the festive spirit. If you would like your child to join us please book the meal through the app by Monday 1st December. Please note that meal choices will be reduced between Monday 8th December and Thursday 11th to help us facilitate our Christmas Dinners.
Wishing you an enjoyable and relaxing weekend
Mrs Silk
