What a busy week in school!
This week has been a wonderful celebration of what makes Flowery special, with exciting sporting events, the Year 6 performances at the Lowry, and the Year 5 film premiere. It’s been a privilege to watch our children collaborate and succeed.
On Monday, we said goodbye to our animals who went on their summer holidays to Garden House Farm in Marple. The farm will be looking after our animals during the summer holiday and they would love to see some of our families. For more information visit, Home – Charity and Community farm (thegardenhousemarple.com). If anyone would like to make a donation to Marple House Farm to help them support our animals over the summer we would be extremely grateful.
On Wednesday, our Y6 pupils performed in the Children’s Shakespeare festival at the Lowry theatre. The children have worked exceptionally hard over the last few weeks and pulled off a stunning performance of The Tempest. It was lovely to see so many families and ex pupils supporting them, many of whom had appeared at the Lowry when they were at Flowery.
On Thursday evening we hosted our annual film premier. Our Y5 children have planned, directed, produced and edited some amazing movies based on the United Nations sustainable goals. Their films provided important messages about how we can make a difference to end poverty and ensure access to basic rights. We are extremely proud of the way the children worked co-operatively to create these movies.
Finally, I would like to thank all the families who joined us for the sports events—especially those brave enough to take part in the parent race! We’re proud of the children’s achievements and look forward to building on their enthusiasm next year. Unfortunately, both Mr Wright and Ms Lawton will be leaving their current roles at the end of the school year. Mr Wright is moving on to a role with British Orienteering, and Ms Lawton, will be starting her own dance school. Check out the link for more details:https://www.facebook.com/share/1FQzK9XXHY/?mibextid=wwXIfr We’re incredibly grateful for their contributions and know they’ll be missed. From September, we’ll be working with Ms Lawton through Ignite Dance and currently finalising our future sports provision.
Wishing you all a relaxing and enjoyable weekend.
Mrs Silk
IMPORTANT REMINDER - REPORTS
Next week, we will be sending out our end of year reports through the My Child at School App. Please ensure you are able to access the app and update your contact details. Paper copies can be requested from the office.
UNIFORM
As we prepare for the new school year, please can we remind all parents of expectations regarding uniform All children are required to adhere to our uniform policy, which includes school shoes. We have noticed an increase in children wearing expensive items to school, these are not permitted. Please can we also remind parents that hoodies should only be worn on PE days, as this forms part of our PE kit, not our school uniform. Details of our uniform can be found on our website: School Uniform | Flowery Field Primary School
WRAP AROUND PROVISION
Due to the number of families requiring wrap around provision, we are looking at extending our provision further in September. Please speak to the office if you require places with either before or after school for the new school year. We are offering families, a complimentary trial session during the summer term. Please book this through the office.
