What a lovely end to the week!

This week, I have had the pleasure of attending the Y4 residentials to Mellor Country house, the behaviour of the Y4 children has been impeccable, everyone we have met during the residentials has commented on the children’s manners. The children have been extremely helpful, supporting and encouraging each other to be the best that they can be.  I am extremely proud of the way the children have overcome their fears, many sleeping away from home for the first time. Likewise, I am extremely grateful to the staff who have supported this event, over 30 staff who have generously given up their time to make this possible. Well done to you all!

This term we are focusing on consolidating our learning from across the year.  Our EYFS pupils have continued their science learning, exploring the wonders of the universe.

Within KS1, the children are exploring the local area as part of their geography work, they have applied their prior learning to name many of the physical and human features of their local environment.  They have also explored what life was like in the past, linking back to Thomas Ashton.

Within Y5 and 6 our pupils have been exploring the world of creative arts.  Our Y5 pupils have been taking on the role of actor, producer, director and editor to produce their own movies based on the UN’s Sustainability Goals.  These will be unveiled at our red carpet event which takes place on Thursday 17th July.  Our Y6 pupils are currently exploring the works of Shakespeare, exploring the story of the Tempest.  They have used a number of drama techniques to create their own scenes to retell the story.  Their work will be showcased at the Lowry Theatre on Wednesday 16th July.  Tickets can be obtained through the school office or Lowry theatre.

During the summer term, we have a number of events which parents are invited too.  Please check the newsletter, MCAS app and website regularly to ensure you don’t miss out.  Monday 14th July our annual sports events will take place.  All families are invited to share in these events.  Within EYFS/KS1 the event will focus on the skills we have been learning in KS1, whilst KS2 events will run as a competitive event.  There is no need to books for these events.

Finally, we are excited to announce the launch of our brand-new Instagram page, which will serve as our main platform for sharing updates, celebrations, and snapshots of school life from September. This will replace our previous Twitter feed. Follow us on Instagram to stay connected with all the wonderful things happening at school — from classroom highlights to special events and everything in between! @floweryfieldprimary

Wishing you all a relaxing and enjoyable weekend.

Traffic on Site

Over the recent weeks we have seen an increase in traffic accessing our site which poses an increased risk to our children.  Please can we remind all families that no cars should be left unattended and that the Flowery Centre and School car park should not be used.  If you are using the drop off, please adhere to the strict 5mph speed limit and ensure that children are only dropped off in the designated drop off zone.

Uniform

As we prepare for the new school year, please can we remind all parents of expectations regarding uniform  All children are required to adhere to our uniform policy, which includes school shoes. We have noticed an increase in children wearing expensive items to school, these are not permitted.  Please can we also remind parents that hoodies should only be worn on PE days, as this forms part of our PE kit, not our school uniform.  Details of our uniform can be found on our website: School Uniform | Flowery Field Primary School

Wrap around Provision

Due to the number of families requiring wrap around provision, we are looking at extending our provision further in September.  Please speak to the office if you require places with either before or after school for the new school year.  We are offering families, a complimentary trial session during the summer term.  Please book this through the office.
