Week – 6.10.23

This week we had a lovely time celebrating the start of our new term with Froggy! Froggy was impressed with the children’s exemplary learning behaviours and the manners they displayed over the lunchtime period.  He is looking forward to returning after the half term break to check out our great science learning.

In our assemblies, we have continued to explore our emotions, we have spoken about the range of emotions we experience and how to deal with some of these difficult emotions.  We have learnt the importance of Mindfulness and practised some breathing techniques.  On Tuesday, we will be recognising World Mental Health Day.  We encouraging children to wear something yellow, this could be a pair of socks, a hair band or even a yellow T Shirt!  It is simply to raise awareness within our community.

To support our work on emotions, we have all been finding out about the NSPCC campaign - Speak out. Stay safe.  All classes have shared some age-appropriate resources about how to keep themselves safe.  Our older pupils have participated in a range of workshops around this theme.  Please speak to your children about this important area of our curriculum.

As you are aware, over the last few years we have supported Sandwich Angels.  This is an amazing charity who have supported so many members of our community with essential items, including food and clothing.  One of our parents will be holding a food sale on Friday 13th October after school.  In addition, they have asked us to support with their Christmas campaign, they are asking for help with toiletries, hats, gloves and special treats such as selection boxes and un-opened toys.  During the month of October we will be collecting donations in the little room at the front of school.  We understand that not all families can donate at this time and thank you for your continued support.

Finally, we would like to remind parents that Parents’ Evening takes place on Wednesday 18th October. This will be a face to face event to enable you to speak with your child’s teacher and review your child’s progress. All appointments need to be booked through MCAS app.  Booking will open on Monday at 3pm.

Wishing you an enjoyable and relaxing weekend.

URGENT HELP NEEDED

As you are aware our Flowery Friends team work extremely hard to create affordable events for our community.  Unfortunately, we have limited capacity due to the number of people available to support our events.  We are holding a coffee morning at 9am on Monday 16th October to enable parents to meet the team and find out more about how they can help.  We are looking forward to our Halloween Disco and Christmas Crafts with Santa but are in urgent need of support.
