Summer Term – 21.07.23

What a lovely way to finish the term!

Many thanks to our Flowery Friends team and all those involved in organising our first Flowery Festival!  The festival offered something for everyone, bouncy castles, craft activities, hair braiding and even a camp fire!  The children loved the event and are already asking about next year’s event.  Special mention to our award winning cheerleaders who showcased their talents during the festival.

On Thursday evening we hosted our annual film premier.  Our Y5 children have planned, directed, produced and edited some amazing movies based on the United Nations sustainable goals.  Their films provided important messages about how we can make a difference to end poverty and ensure access to basic rights.  We are extremely proud of the way the children worked co-operatively to create these movies.  These will be shared on our Youtube channel over the coming days.

We finished off the week with a special assembly to thank Mrs Slinn and Mrs Smith for their amazing contributions to life at Flowery.  We wish them well on their retirement and look forward to hearing about their new adventures.

As we approach the new school year please can we remind all families that we will be extending our opening hours from September.  School will start at 8 45 and finish at 3 15.  There will be no morning or after school provision for the first couple of weeks as we settle into our new routines.  To support these changes our morning clubs will now start at 8 15 and our after-school clubs will continue to finish at 4pm.  All children will receive details of these on our return and places will be booked through the app.

We would also like to remind families of our uniform policy which can be found here: https://floweryfieldschool.org.uk/parents/school-uniform.  We would like to remind families that all children are expected to wear school shoes, with the exception of their PE day.  Please can we remind parents that school PE kit is an essential part of our school uniform.  Our PE and dance kits consists of a royal blue T-shirt and black or blue shorts. For indoor sessions pumps or bare feet, whilst for outdoor games sessions, trainers are appropriate please.  We are happy for children to purchase a school fleece or Flowery Field hoody to wear over their PE kit.

Finally, on behalf of all the staff at Flowery, I would like to thank you for your support over the last academic year and wish you and your family a lovely and relaxing summer break.

Mrs Silk

All children in receipt of benefit related free school meals will be receiving a voucher to support them for the summer holidays.  Please check to see if you are entitled: https://www.tameside.gov.uk/schoolmeals#claim

We have been fortunate to secure additional vouchers for families who are not entitled to this support but are still experiencing significant difficulties.  Please speak to a member of the pastoral team if you need this support.

Farm

As you are aware our animals have also left us for their Summer break.  We are extremely grateful to our friends at Garden House Marple, who have once again offered to house our animals.  It would be lovely for the children to visit them over the summer break and support the work of Kevin and the team.
