FROGGY STARS - STRIVE -TEAM - AMBITION - RESILIENCE = SUCCESS
Spring Term Week – 21.04.23
What a great start to the summer term!
It has been lovely to have the children back in school, taking on their new challenges and enjoying time with their friends.
This week we have had the opportunity to reflect on our learning from the spring term. Froggy has visited to reward all our Geography superstars – well done to all our award winners. All year groups have shared their Geography learning in our assemblies, we have explored the 7 continents of the world, identified similarities and differences between places around the world and thought about the importance of protecting our planet from climate change.
Our new learning, makes the most of our environment, with many year groups focusing on living things. The children are exploring a range of plants and animals, carrying out experiments and observing changes over time. Within EYFS the children’s observations have identified changes taking place to our special eggs, resulting in us welcoming a new arrival to our Flowery family. We hope to have further news soon.
Next week sees the launch of our summer before and after school clubs, we are extremely grateful to the staff who have volunteered to run this provision, ensuring children have those extra opportunities to experience success. Places are limited and need to booked through the MCAS App. If a child misses 2 consecutive weeks places will be reallocated. Due to the success of our provision, we have been invited to take part in the National Schools Cheer and Damce competition, this is an amazing opportunity for some of our KS2 pupils to take part. To help raise funds for this event we will be holding an after school cake sale on Friday 28th April. There is also a go fund me page to help raise money for costumes https://gofund.me/26369efc.
We are excited to announce that we will be having a special coronation lunch on Friday 5th May. This will be a street party themed lunch offering buffet style food. Booking opens on Monday 24th and closes on Thursday 27th April. Payment need to be made through the app. Please note there will be no charge for children in KS1 or those entitled to a benefit related school meal. We are aware that many children are entitled to a free school meal but prefer to bring sandwiches. With the rise in living costs, I would encourage all families to check out if they are eligible.
Finally, I would like to send my best wishes to all our Muslim families who are celebrating Eid ul-Fitr this weekend. Following, our 30 days of good deeds, to mark Ramadan, we are inviting all children to join us in our Eid celebration on Monday. Children are invited to wear their own clothes and refreshments will be provided. A special mention to our Flowery Friends team who have organised our first family celebration to mark this important event. I know how much work has gone into making this event a success.
Wishing you all a relaxing and enjoyable weekend
Mrs Silk
IMPORTANT NOTICE – HEALTH AND SAFETY
Due to the limited number of disabled bays, 2 are reserved for children who are non-mobile. It is essential that we ensure these children have access to these spaces due to the dropped curb and the additional equipment they require.
Please can we ask other disabled users to be mindful of this when parking on the school site. Our pastoral team are on hand to provide support with drop off and pick up.
IMPORTANT REMINDER – INDUSTRIAL ACTION
As you may be aware, over the Easter break, the NEU have announced further industrial action on Thursday 27th April and Tuesday 2nd May. Unfortunately, due to the number of staff striking, I am unable to open safely so will be operating a remote learning offer to the majority of children.
