Another great week in school!
This week we have welcomed visitors from other schools from within our Trust. They have commented on the strong relationships we have in school, children’s attitude to learning and the level of dedication from colleagues across school. During their visit, they focused on the introduction of Little Wandle to support early reading and phonics. There was clear evidence of the rapid progress made across EYFS and KS1. We are extremely grateful to those families that are supporting this approach.
As part of our current science learning, we have also established links with Ogden Trust. Our teachers have benefited from a range of training to support practical learning that develops children’s scientific skills. On Tuesday, we welcomed a special visitor who demonstrated the wonders of science to our Reception, Year 3 and 5 pupils. Check out the photos on our Facebook page,
We know that several of our families will be celebrating Chinese New year this weekend. We wish all those celebrating, Kung Hei Fat Choi! We look forward to hearing of your celebrations. If other families would like to join the celebrations, there are lots of activities that are taking place in Manchester: the legendary dragon parade; live performances; funfair and much more. More details can be found below.
We have ended the week with our Y6 residential to Robinwood. The children are very excited and looking forward to trying lots of new things. Check out our photos on the school Twitter link that can be found on our school website. Special mention to my amazing colleagues who are willing to give up their weekend to provide such a fantastic opportunity for our pupils.
Finally, as you are aware the NEU (Teacher Union) have announced a series of strikes. The first of which takes place on Wednesday 1st February. Unfortunately, this will have a significant impact on our provision. We are awaiting further guidance from both Enquire Learning Trust and the Unions and will confirm arrangements as soon as possible.
Wishing you all an enjoyable and relaxing weekend
Mrs Silk
