Reflections on week 26

The spring sunshine has given every one of lift this week, although this morning has seen some proper Manchester rain! The nice weather certainly helps with the traffic problems – despite this, there has been an accident on Old Road. I ask everyone to consider walking to school if possible or alternatively, parking up and completing the last part of your journey on foot.

I am especially pleased to see children going off-site to the park for their Forest School lessons. The possibilities for fun and adventure are greater in the dell and the children have responded brilliantly.

Thanks for your support with today’s non-uniform event and your generous donations of Easter Eggs and chocolate which we will use as prizes in next week’s Flowery Friends Easter Egg Bingo sessions which are taking place "online" this year.

See the calendar for details of these sessions for the different age groups. https://floweryfieldschool.org.uk/calendar

Looking much further ahead, I had a very encouraging phone call from the staff at the Robinwood Centre and have made our booking for next year’s year 6 pupils in January 2022. I share everyone’s hope that life will be much closer to ‘normal’ by then! (We also have fingers and everything else crossed that our current year 6 can enjoy their postponed visit this June.)

I forwarded a letter this week from the director of Public Health in which she notes that Tameside’s infection rates are increasing. This is a worrying development and can only be reversed by everyone following her advice. I again thank everyone for their help in making the school site as safe as possible and remind everyone of the importance of social distancing and the wearing of face-coverings.

Next week, we are holding the second of our Arts Weeks so please keep an eye on our twitter feed and social media for postings of some of the creative achievements.

As Good Friday falls on April 2nd, we are in school for just 4 days next week before we break up for the Easter holiday. School returns on Monday 19th April for the summer term. Rainbow Club is operating during the holiday for working parents needing care facilities. Please contact them directly with any enquires or to book places – 07769153279.

As ever, stay safe and enjoy the weekend,

Best wishes

Mr Fell
