FROGGY STARS - STRIVE -TEAM - AMBITION - RESILIENCE = SUCCESS 15.05.26
We would like to begin by congratulating our incredible Year 6 pupils, who have now completed their SATs. We are immensely proud of every one of them—their determination, focus and resilience when tackling challenging questions has been truly inspiring. They approached the week with maturity and positivity, and we could not be prouder of how they represented our school. We also want to acknowledge the dedication of our staff, whose support throughout the children’s learning journey helped them feel confident and well‑prepared. After the half‑term break, we look forward to supporting our Year 4 pupils as they complete their Multiplication Check, and our Year 1 pupils as they take part in their Phonics Screening. We know they will rise to the challenge with the same enthusiasm and determination.
On Wednesday 20th May, we will be taking part in National Numeracy Day, which celebrates the importance of everyday maths. The theme this year—“Count on Your Community”—fits perfectly with our Year 6 mini‑enterprise projects taking place on the same day. Our Y6 pupils have planned a range of fun activities and have even prepared some delicious treats for children to enjoy. Pupils in other year groups are invited to bring a small amount of money to spend; please ensure this is placed in a named envelope and handed to your child’s teacher for safekeeping. All funds raised will go towards our Year 6 leavers’ events. We hope everyone will join in as we celebrate our love of maths through meaningful, everyday activities.
As part of our ongoing commitment to helping improve education and transform lives in Uganda, we are delighted to be holding a special Uganda Day on Thursday 21st May 2026, alongside other schools across our Trust. This event builds on the success of our previous appeal and continues our shared mission to make a meaningful difference for children overseas. Throughout the day, pupils will immerse themselves in learning about life in Uganda, exploring the culture, traditions and daily experiences of children their own age. Our children have been learning a special song and dance that they will share with our friends overseas, helping to strengthen the sense of connection and community across continents. Children are encouraged to come dressed in black, yellow, red, and white, reflecting the colours of the Ugandan flag, and to bring a £1 donation to support our fundraising efforts. Thank you for helping us teach our pupils the value of global citizenship, compassion, and community action.
This week we held our first Eid planning event, a family celebration designed to strengthen our community and bring everyone together. Our event takes place on Wednesday 17th June between 4 and 6. All proceeds from the event will go directly toward supporting our school library project, helping us create a richer learning environment for our children. As this is a school run event, tickets will be available through MCAS. Please see the products section of the app and select the number of tickets you require. As this is an after-school event, all children will need to be accompanied. Tickets will be available from Monday.
We would like to extend our congratulations to our football teams following their fantastic performances in the South Tameside Cup. Both squads displayed excellent teamwork and should be incredibly proud of the resilience they showed throughout their matches. Our girls’ team narrowly missed out on progressing to the next round, but the progress they have made this year has been truly impressive. Meanwhile, our boys’ team roared to victory in a tense penalty shoot‑out after a closely contested game. We look forward to cheering them on as they advance to the next round.
Finally, we would like to thank you for your continued support in ensuring your children attend regularly and achieve their full potential.
Wishing you a lovely weekend
Mrs Silk
