We have had a lovely week recognising all our children’s achievements through our celebration assemblies.
Within our assemblies, children have loved sharing their work within history, exploring artefacts, looking at primary and secondary sources to help develop their knowledge and understanding of key events from the past. We are extremely proud of our older pupils who spoke about the importance of learning from the mistakes from the past, in relation to the Transatlantic Slave Trade and World War 1 and 2. We would like to thank all those who attended these events.
Despite the awful weather, our children continue to achieve great things. Our Y5 pupils have definitely demonstrated how resilient they are in completing their Bikeability training. Many children have increased their confidence and are now competent out on the roads. We look forward to sharing in your successes during our assembly.
Please can we remind parents that school finishes at 3 15. We are seeing an increasing number of children leaving early, which means they are missing essential learning. We will continue to support disabled parents at pick up. No other parents should be collecting from the school reception area.
Finally, I would like to inform you that Lila’s funeral takes place on Friday 26th January. We will be marking this in school with a 1minute silence. The funeral cortege will pass school at approximately 10 45, where some of our younger pupils will have chance to celebrate Lila’s life. Families are invited to attend to show their support for Lila’s family at this time. If anyone would like to make a donation in memory of Lila, Lila’s family have asked them to be sent to Roald Dahl’s Marvellous Children’s Charity.
Wishing you all an enjoyable and relaxing weekend
Mrs Silk

Can you help?
We are currently collecting plastic milk bottle tops to help Yorkshire Cancer Research in memory of a colleague from Enquire Learning Trust. These can be any colour and will be recycled by the charity and then made into plastic playground equipment, garden furniture and children’s toys. Given the size of our school I’m hopeful that we can help.
