Spring Term Week – 19.05.23
This week the children have continued to embrace their current science topics, exploring living things in and around school. Our pupils have loved planting seeds, carrying out their own experiments and observing new growth. We are looking forward to seeing the children apply this learning both within school and our local environment. Please encourage the children to discuss the different plants they see on their journey to school
Well done to all our Y2 pupils who have tackled the challenge of our Y2 SATs. We know how hard they have worked and are proud of the effort they have put in. Following the half term break, our Y4 pupils will be tackling the Multiplication check, whilst our Y1 children will be completing their phonic screening. The teachers are looking forward to celebrating in the summer term and are currently planning our final units of work for the summer term. Our Sports week is scheduled for the 11th July.
Our menu has now been updated for the Summer term. Please check it out on the school website or the MCAS app. Please can we ask all families to make their selections for the Summer term. With the rise in food costs, we would urge all EYFS/KS1 pupils and families in receipt of benefit related free school meals to take up the offer. Alongside our meal choices we offer sandwiches and jacket potatoes. If your circumstances have changed and you feel you may be entitled please contact the office.
As the weather improves, please can we remind all parents to ensure that children bring sun protection to school. We would advise bringing a water bottle to school, wearing a sun hat and applying sunscreen prior to attending school. Children will be encouraged to reapply sunscreen prior to lunchtime. Please ensure all belongings are named.
As we prepare for the new school year we are currently consulting on our opening times for September. All children should have received a letter, We are looking to increase our offer for all children ensuring we are open for the recommended 32.5 hours. We are proposing an 8 45 start and 3 15 finish time. I appreciate that these changes may affect you in terms of childcare or working arrangements. . For this reason, I would like to invite you to give your feedback by sending your response to admin@floweryfield.tameside.sch.uk. Consultation will close on May 26th 2023. We will release the results of the consultation by Monday 12th June and will communicate the outcome via our weekly newsletter and school website.
Wishing you all a relaxing and enjoyable weekend
Mrs Silk
IMPORTANT NOTICE – HEALTH AND SAFETY
Unfortunately, we are only able to allow disabled access at the end of the day for health and safety reasons. We would ask parents to park outside of the school grounds and walk in. This week has seen significant congestion in the Surestart carpark. It is essential that we ensure emergency vehicles can have access at the start and end of the school day.
