Spring Term Week 7 – 18.2.22

Firstly, I would like to thank you for your support with Farm Friday.  We raised an amazing £390 to support the upkeep of the farm.  Many of the children have been keen to find out more about the animals and discussed ways in which we can improve the farm.  Many thanks to Mrs Marsden and Mrs Mercer who continue to look after the animals and teach the children how to care for them.

This week the children have finished off the half term with our termly arts week.  Our Y4 children have had the opportunity to visit Manchester Art Gallery, working alongside their resident artist, Vanessa Scott, to create a masterpiece!   Other years have had the opportunity to appreciate the work of famous artists, including Nick Mackman, William Morris, Megan Coyle, Rosemary Karuga, Lowry, Gaudi, Tarsila Do Amaral and Van Gogh.  They have used their works to inspire their own creations, developing new skills and applying them to their own works of art.  The children should be extremely proud of their finished pieces.   These will be shared as part of our celebration assemblies.

Manchester art gallery are running free sessins throughout the holidays for all children.  More details can be found at: https://www.familyonthego.co.uk/whats-on-in-manchester/half-term-activities-at-manchester-art-gallery

School Timings

As we look to resuming our morning and after school provision,  we will be making some slight changes to support this provision:

8am      – Morning Dance/PE available for children in years 1-6

8.40am – Doors Open EYFS/KS1

Y3/4/5/6 teachers will come down to greet pupils

8.50am – School Starts

Please note children arriving after this time are considered late.

At the end of the school day we are asking parents to wait outside of the gates until 3pm this will ensure all children are able to leave the classrooms safely.

Please note nursery gates will open at 2 50pm for nursery pick up only.

After School Clubs will recommence from Monday 28th February - places must be booked in advance through the MCAS app.

School Meals

Many thanks to all those families that have already selected meals for the new term.  All meals need to be ordered 2 weeks in advance to enable the kitchen to source supplies.  We are looking forward to sampling the new dishes on the menu, especially the hand pulled chicken burger.  Ice cream is also a popular choice that has now been added as a regular treat!  If anyone would like to change to school meals this can be done at the start of the new term.  Please note any families who have children in Year 2 or below are entitled to a FSM.  Likewise, many families in receipt of Universal Credit are also entitled.  For more information please check out the following link: https://www.tameside.gov.uk/schoolmeals

Things to do in the holidays:

Hat’s Off to Denton is a free hat sculpture trail inspired by the town’s hatting heritage. The 15 hat trail, 5 of which are giant, will be exhibited across Denton Town Centre between Saturday 19th and Sunday 13th March. Each hat will unique as they will be hand painted by a local artist, with the designs inspired by the town or a community group within the town.

These fabulous stories are chock-a-block with brave heroes and heroines, wicked villains, sorcery, and sword fights.
