Week 5 – 08/10/21

Congratulations to Mr Smith who has completed his first ever London Marathon.  We are extremely proud of his achievements, we have used this as a focus for our weekly assemblies encouraging all our children to aim high.

Please let us know if your child has something to celebrate so we can inspire others.

What a lovely week in school!

Following the successful Y6 residential our children have continued to thrive in all aspects of school.

Our nursery pupils have continued to put their Forest School skills into action with a trip to the park.  We are extremely grateful for the support from our families who have enabled such experiences.  I know how impressed the team have been with their listening skills.

In Year 1 and 2 pupils have been practising their songs ready for our Celebration Assemblies that take place after half term.  We have been impressed with their enthusiasm.  We are especially proud of our Y2 pupils have supported our reception pupils in their first singing session.  Mr G has joined us virtually!

In Years 3 and 4, the children have continued to excel in all aspects of their science work.  Year 3 have enjoyed exploring circuits, they are keen to apply this to their making of the Iron Man!  Year 4 have produced some creative pieces based on Food Chains, demonstrating their understanding of consumers and producers.

Year 5 and 6 have embarked on a senses adventure, Y5 pupils have visited the African markets and used this experience to inspire their writing, whilst Y6 have enjoyed a visit from a member of the Halle Orchestra.    Our Y6 pupils will be visiting the Halle in the Spring term.

The final treat of the week has to be lunch with Froggy.  He was really impressed with the excellent start we have made to the school year and can’t wait to join us for Celebration Assembly.

Flowery Friends

Our Flowery Friends team have been working hard behind the scenes to ensure we have lots of lovely events this academic year.  With several members leaving, due to children moving on to High School, we really need to recruit new members.  Our next meeting takes place on Monday.  Please see our upcoming events for more information.  We continue to monitor COVID rates daily and are hopeful that are planned disco can go ahead.

My Child at School
Many thanks to all those families that have signed up to the app. You are able to use this to check important messages, book a school dinner, check attendance and even book a place at one of our after school clubs.  We are extremely grateful for your support during this transition period.  If you still need support in accessing the app please speak to a member of the office team as we are hoping to use it to order school meals soon!

COVID Update

We continue to have high numbers of cases within school.  Please can we ask that any child with signs of illness gets a PCR test and remains off school until they get a negative result. This will not affect their attendance.  We have been further advised that siblings of positive cases need to isolate for 3 days and then have a further PCR before returning to school.  Many thanks for your support in following the guidance we have received from Public Health.

Support

If you have any questions, please find a member of our pastoral team who are around before and after school.

Staffing

Unfortunately Miss Snioch and Miss Hawke will be leaving us at half term.  They have both made a huge contribution to our Flowery team and we would like to take this opportunity to thank them for their commitment.

We are pleased to announce that Mrs McDermott will be joining us as part of our Y4 team. She is already a familiar face around school and many of the children have already worked with her.  She will be working with the children in 4SM on Fridays for the remainder of this half term, before taking over from Miss Snioch in November.

We are currently recruiting a qualified sports coach who can support our wider curriculum offer.  This job can be found under our parents section of our website.
